Owner and Founder of AXL
Tyler Axelson is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist dedicated to helping people of all ages and activity levels move better, feel stronger, and live without limitations. He works with a wide range of individuals, including youth, high school, and collegiate athletes; active adults; post-operative orthopedic patients; and those who are looking to become pain-free in their everyday lives.
Tyler brings in a wide range of experiences that allows him to work with athletes and individuals across multiple sports and across the lifespan. Tyler’s clinical experiences include pediatric sports, outpatient orthopedics, and post-operative care. He has also worked as a personal trainer for several years, helping individuals reach both performance and weight-loss goals.
Beyond the clinic, Tyler spent time in the medical device industry as a Robotic Clinical Specialist, where he supported orthopedic surgeons during joint replacement procedures. This role provided him with a deep understanding of biomechanics, surgical techniques, and the full continuum of orthopedic care—from pre-operative planning to post-surgical rehabilitation and long-term recovery.
Tyler earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Psychology from Robert Morris University. He brings a thoughtful, human-centered approach to care that blends physical preparation with mindset and behavior change.
Outside of work, Tyler practices what he teaches. He is a CrossFit athlete, runner, and golfer, and understands firsthand the demands of training, competition, and staying healthy long-term. As a Type 1 diabetic, he brings a personal perspective on resilience, adaptability, and managing health while pursuing performance goals—insight that shapes his empathetic, individualized approach to care.
Through AXL Performance and Recovery, Tyler provides one-on-one, high-quality physical therapy and performance training that meets each person where they are—whether returning to sport, recovering from surgery, building confidence to move, or simply wanting to live an active, pain-free life.
